Pack your suitcase with wool

Whether you're going on a long weekend to New York or a conference in Berlin, nothing beats wool for travel. Soft, thin merino wool is comfortable against the skin and can be styled up or down, and with wool in your suitcase, you can pack fewer clothes.

Why wool is perfect for travelling

Wool clothing rarely needs ironing since it does not wrinkle easily, even after being packed tightly.
Merino wool has a natural elasticity and maintains its shape, also around elbows and knees. Perfect for travel clothing that has to be worn for several days.
Wool has antibacterial properties that prevents odour and does not need to be washed frequently. Air wool clothing after use, so you can use it repeatedly during your trip. A thin, fine wool shirt or sweater can be used as an outer layer with a variety of outfits.
With a thin wool shirt or singlet as the base layer, you can leave that thick sweater at home.

Wool is temperature-regulating. Thin, fine wool clothing is comfortable to wear, even when it’s hot, and insulates heat when it’s cold outside.
On long journeys, temperatures can fluctuate considerably. It can be hot and stressful on the way to the airport, but cold on board the plane. Wool transfers moisture away from the body. Wool underwear will wick moisture away from your skin if you perspire, and make sure you don’t freeze on the plane.

Tips for your suitcase

A fine thin long-sleeve wool shirt in a neutral colour is highly versatile and goes great with suit trousers, jeans and shirts. Wear it alone or under a shirt or thicker sweater if it gets cold.
A thin, attractive short-sleeve wool top is great to wear as a base layer when it’s chilly outside and can be used several times before it needs washing. It can also be worn alone as a singlet if it gets hot.
A merino wool scarf is perfect for chilly flights and cool autumn days and can dress up any outfit. A thin wool scarf can be worn with both indoor and outdoor outfits. Choose a colour that matches the other clothing in your suitcase.
Unlike other tights, wool tights can be used several times before they need to be washed. Wool tights keep feet dry and warm longer during chilly autumn nights. If it gets really cold, wool tights are great as an additional heat-insulating layer under trousers.
Thin wool socks keep feet dry and warm, are breathable and prevent unpleasant odours – important when doing lots of walking in close-fitting shoes while travelling.
